White Shed Meadery (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit whiteshed.com or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who can use this site
Our products contain alcohol. This site and our store are intended only for people 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
Information we collect
- Order information: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and the items you buy. Your confirmation that you are 21 or older is recorded with your order.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Square and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us through our contact form, by email, or by phone.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and name if you choose to subscribe.
- Browsing information: like most websites, we and the services we use collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and how you arrived at our site, using cookies and similar technologies.
How we use your information
- To process, ship, and deliver your order, including verifying that the recipient is 21 or older.
- To calculate the correct sales tax and keep the tax and sales records Washington and Oregon require.
- To answer your questions and provide customer service.
- To send our newsletter and offers, only if you opted in. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To understand how our website is used, improve it, and measure our advertising.
- To prevent fraud and spam and to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that help us run our business, and only what they need:
- UPS, to ship and deliver your order with an adult signature.
- Square and PayPal, to process payments.
- Mailchimp, to manage our email list, show sign-up forms on our site, and measure our email campaigns. Mailchimp’s scripts on our site may use cookies to recognize visitors who arrive from our emails. Order details are also shared with Mailchimp so we can understand our customers, but you only receive marketing emails if you subscribed.
- Washington State Department of Revenue, which receives Washington shipping addresses through its public rate lookup so we can charge the correct local sales tax.
- Google, through the Google tag on our site, which we use for Google Analytics and Google Ads. Google Analytics tells us how visitors find and use our site and which pages and products lead to purchases. Google Ads measures and improves our ads, and Google may use cookies to show you our ads on other sites. When you complete an order, we send Google the order number, total, and the products purchased (not your name, address, or payment details). - WordPress.com / Jetpack and our web host, which run our website, deliver images, collect anonymous visitor statistics, and filter spam (Akismet).
- Government authorities, when required by law, such as alcohol regulators (the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board and the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission) and tax agencies.
Cookies and ad choices
Cookies keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and help us measure our website and ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the store may not work without them. You can turn off personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with Google’s browser add-on.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor browser privacy signals. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal, our site does not load the Google tag (Google Analytics and Google Ads) or Mailchimp’s tracking scripts, so they do not track your visit or set their cookies. Your cart, checkout, and newsletter sign-up still work normally. Our web host’s basic, anonymous visitor statistics are not affected.
How long we keep it
We keep order and tax records for as long as the law requires, generally at least five years. We keep newsletter information until you unsubscribe, and other information only as long as we need it for the purposes above.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing lori@whiteshed.com. We may need to keep some records, such as orders and tax records, when the law requires it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email.
Security
Our site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and payments are handled by PCI-compliant payment processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
